Dr. Bob--Date split when archiving

I've noticed that when an archive is created, it doesn't include the full day's worth of posts. For example, yesterday on Psycho-Babble, some of the 5/22/01 posts were archived and some are on the new page. Would it be possible to begin a new page with all the posts for that day instead of the way archives are now being created? When I search through the newly created archive for the rest of that day's posts, there aren't any yellow tags to let me know which messages I haven't read, so this can get a bit time-consuming.
