Crisis Parnate

Posted by Rick Alan on January 6, 2016, at 18:07:57

Have been on Parnate most of the time for 30 years with good results. All of a sudden diagnosed with arrythmia, and am taking a higher dose bisoprolol than previously (5mg daily instead of 2.5). Now just the firt Parnate 10 mg of the day makes me terribly dizzy, but with stable blood pressure (no hypotension) Here in Costa Rica, no docs know anything about Parnate, (few enough in US). Now a month pretty much without Parnate and very depressed. No dangerous interactions between bisoprolol and Parnate. Dont know if it is the med combination or the arrythmia itself that makes me virtually unable to take Parnate. Very desperate at this point. My only other Psych drug is Klonapin 2.0 mg per day since a year ago. Psych hospitalization for several months in US in 2014, took me off Parnate than back on, and I somehow got back to Costa Rica and had a reasonably good 2015 (even with chronic lower back pain), but since arrythmia diagnosis, I am getting very seriously depressed. Social factors are involved. 68 and single, support group is so/so, retired but try to keep busy. Parnate seemed to keep me going, but even waiting 4-5 hours after the first bisoprolol of the day, doesnt prevent this overwhelming sensation of something akin to dizziness. Doubt that anyone can help but just in case. Thanks Rick
