Some substances work as antagonist or agonist or excitor or inhibitor. Some work with the reuptake of the neurotransmitter or blocking that. Some with calcium channels?
Have you heard of floxing caused by Cipro?
Down regulation of gaba receptors seems to be an issue - rather than brain structure.
Using phenibut, GHB, glutamine, phenibut, picamilon floods GABA and may not result in upregulation of gaba receptors.
Using herbs such as lemon balm, ginkgo, sage, salvia is supposed to help with dementia - bacopa, ginseng, gotu kola, turmeric help with memory.
Using ampakines is supposed to help with upregulation of gaba receptors.
Neurotransmitters are built with the help of amino acids, B vitamins, minerals (magnesium).
Supplements such as Lion's mane help with NGF, BNDF - cat's claw helps with cell growth - omega 3 krill oil with cell walls.
For antioxidants, inflammation, immunity can try carnosine, alpha lipoic acid, green tea.
Bacopa helps with nerve transmissions - resveratrol with longevity - huperzia serrata with degenerative protection - uridine for neurogenesis.
This is a lot of stuff but the main ones seem to be - carnosine, uridine, lion's mane, resveratrol, cat's claw, bacopa.
I have no idea about this stuff - just trying to answer the question to see if anyone has any better experience.
