^"Tranylcypromine/ ziprasidone interaction""A 41-year-old woman developed serotonin syndrome during treatment with ziprasidone and tranylcypromine for severe depression.
The woman had been receiving ziprasidone 40 mg [frequency, route and duration of therapy not stated] and started treatment with tranylcypromine at 10 mg/day [route not stated] after a 14 day washout of other medications. On day 23 the dosage of tranylcypromine was increased to 50 mg/day in divided doses. The next day she experienced tremors, shivering, diaphoresis, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea and confusion. She was admitted to an emergency department in an agitated state with a fever of 38.5°, a pulse of 130 beats/min, hyperreflexia, shivering and myoclonic jerks of all four extremities requiring restraints.
