I take a multivitamin and B-complex. I think the B vitamins might be helpful in depression and stress. I am not absolutely certain of this, but they seem benign enough. One thing in the vitamin B category that I reacted quite badly to was P-5-P. I became hideously depressed and suicidal within two hours of taking my first and only dose. It took at least 8 hours to dissipate. Another substance that makes me feel decidedly worse is megadose calcium.
I stay away from megadoses of vitamin C unless I feel the very beginnings of a cold coming on, at which times I take 5 grams b.i.d. for two days. That's all I do. It seems to work. However, if I wait too long to begin this treatment, the infection follows its usual course despite megadosing.
I sometimes think that the world of dietary "supplementation" and herbology is more complicated than psychopharmacology. It's too much for me to keep up with.
