In reply to abilify 15 mg is doing something a little bit...., posted by Jeroen on August 10, 2011, at 11:48:10
Hey, Jeroen. Abilify sometimes can suppress TD without making it worse (most antipsychotics that suppress TD can make it worse over the long haul, especially the old ones). If you're one of the lucky ones, you may be able to get remission of the TD (mild TD tends to remit in some cases) along with effective treatment for your psychosis. Antioxidants might help you out, too.
30mgs might be good for you. I think with Abilify it really depends on where you are with your issues. For me, 30mgs kept me calm during agitation and psychotic depression, but now I'm reducing back down to 15mgs, since I've been OK for a while and I have minimal psychosocial stressors. I wouldn't worry about it either way--the 15mgs is helping, and that's great; 30mgs might provide some additional "oomph," which would be good, too. Abilify usually doesn't cause EPS or TD, even at 30mgs/day, so its not as if a dosage increase is terribly risky.
Sorry about all you've been through. Hopefully, you've found something that works for you.
