that carvedilol is as safe as propranolol or any other more known off-label beta-blocker? (I already have the documentation that it might be anti-tardive)
[I am sorry if this does not seem urgent at first but forceful strained facial grimacing and voice and altered rigid movement ability is in a flare right now, as it tends to under stress (any sort of focus work/concentration, i.e. walking hyper long distances okay, organisational work, like what i have now, getting ready for Philadelphia (URGENT; SO HARD FOR ME COGNITIVELY), is trouble) and I am perpetually at the limit of the lorazepam that I am allowed to administer or even able to tolerate. I need the option to try this low-dose med to bring with me to Philadelphia as benzos are failing.]
Indeed, when reading about beta blockers, it seems that it would even be safer despite the fact that it seems more complicated at first glance, especially given its initially specialised inidications.
Typically when I want to try something, I bring in printouts of abstracts proving its off-label use in psychiatry in general (prazosin's use in PTSD made him feel comfortable rx'ing for anxiety), with of course eventual terms such "well-tolerated" "safe and effective" being a particular bonus. And the more abstracts/full-texts the merrier. He then goes to his two main books, to confirm whether he is comfortable and agree's the rx is worth a shot. One is the CPS, which doesn't have a lot of off-label info, but has all the dosing and safety info. The other is this big (but way smaller than the cps) white and red spiral bound sort of book that mentions medications with relation to how they are being prescribed wrt to psychiatry.
Coincidentally, I already seem to consisitently have mild hypertension for someone my age and size (late 20s), but it is hard to get an appointment with my GP, and my psychiatrist has no BP reading gadgets in his office.
I basically need something that pretty clearly states the near solid interchangeability of propranolol and carvedilol in most non life threatenining instances, somehow extending this into the psychiatric, since carvedilol/psych documentation is nil (unless i have made mistakes searching).
The article/letter by a lone doctor which suggested how carvedilol could help with my constantly problematic movement issues did interest him, but the tardive cases were very extreme relative to mine, and he didn't include much on how typically safe it is as a beta-blocker; and then the other article he made wasn't published, it was a patent. A study confirming the drug's action he had proposedly been putting to use, but on animals, is the only other documentation. I am encouraged particulary that it may help me take less lorazepam as well just by the fact that a lot of people on the internet seem to use carvedilol effectively for social anxiety, which i have along with hyperhidrosis again, severely. this is long, sorry, i will end abruptly. please help if you can. please bear in mind my posts take a lot of effort, part of why i need lorazepam is disinhibition, i otherwise lie and stare for insane bulk periods. if you can find a good doc/paper that is my first priority
