Vilazodone vs Nefazodone - 5-HT receptors

Posted by Joe Schmoe on November 13, 2010, at 10:56:33

I am curious about the claims Vilazodone has no sexual side effects because of its interaction with the 5-HT1a autoreceptor.

It seems to me Serzone's claim to fame was no sexual side effects due to its interaction with the 5-HT2a and c receptors.

Now I am confused about which receptor(s) are responsible for sexual side effects in SSRIs. Can anyone shed some light on this? I know some people have tried taking Buspirone for its effect on 5-HT1a for sexual side effects but I don't recall any rave reviews on the results.
