I am coming to the conclusion that most depression is largely environmental or what some in here call situational. Man has been using chemicals for centuries for relief. If you look at the millions worldwide who use opioids and cocaine and other stimulants I would say that the relief is actually profound. Unforunately there are issues of legality and tolerance usually developes. I think potentially the brain can be manipulated to experience almost every emotion.
As I said before you really can't use the current crop of ads to answer that question. Theoretically I think the brain could be manipulated to experience almost any emotion regardless of life circumstances. I believe it is more propaganda that this is not possible. Society does have an agenda to not have us happy on meds.
