Anx,agitation worse before better- but Depression?

Posted by alchemy on September 28, 2010, at 20:21:39

I hear that it is common that anxiety & agitation can get worse and then better when starting a new medication.

But what about depression? I don't hear anything about it improving.
And what about observable changes in mood going down during the day? Could it be part of the adjustment?

I have slowly decreased Celexa & slowly increased Pristiq. It has been 3 weeks and now I am increasing Pristiq again. I don't know if it is necessarily worse, but it is definitely not better. The only stabilizer that hasn't been negative for me is Lamictal. I am one of those that long-term SSRI use from my teens may have induced rapid-cycling. But they have seemed to help somewhat. So if the SSRI/SRNIs are contributing to cycling - which they may not be, do they at least give me some "better" times. In other words, if I wasn't taking them and with some miracle my mood was more stable, the stability may just be a worse mood.

I have tried augmenting w/ lithium, abilify, etc.
Ultra-rapid cylcers have a poor prognosis. I have tried about everything. Help!
