Hi Phillipa and Maxie,
I'm revisiting the thyroid issue too. You both have hashimoto's, right?
I take levoxyl and now want to try a slow release t3. Or thylor (sp?).
On top of menopause (I'm the right age), I really really suspect the hashimoto's is
inadequately treated, even though tsh was .96 on last test.
Besides fatigue, fatigue, fatigue, I now have carpal tunnel (!)
Maxie, tell us what endo says. I need to find one myself.
Phillipa, you're right. I know another woman who went absolutely haywire at 45 onward. Fatigue, extreme panic attacks, high energy episodes, dysthymia. Went to endo, got the 'wiley protocol' and almost had a nervous breakdown. Oh. Someone checked her thyroid antibodies. Through the roof! She
figured she went hypo after the birth of her son. Her hashimoto's progressed unchecked until he was almost 8. Wish I could pass on a treatment success. Her tsh is good, but dysthymia and fatigue, aches remain.
Arrrgh.
(Btw, no claims made here that thyroid disfunction is the root cause of mental illness. Above based on my personal situation and experience :) )
MDD currently controlled. C-ptsd and comorbid health concerns. Chronic fatigue.
