The 'brain shocks' are normally an SSRI withdrawal symptom. If you are very sensitive to this effect, withdrawal symptoms may occur between doses with a short-acting SSRI such as paroxetine. Taking paroxetine twice a day eg. 10mg bd would be an alternative to taking Paxil CR. To be honest, given your previous experience with it, I think it would be better for you to avoid paroxetine altogether.
