I would think it wouldn't. Lexapro is a very potent SRI inhibitor, effexor is not. 37.5 mg of effexor is nothing compared to 10 mg lexapro. Your doc should have weened you down to 5mgs. I think, the 10 mg lexapro tabs can be broken in half.
I don't think he should have had you switch over to effexor but rather withdrawal completely from lexapro. I don't like this switching over crap unless it makes the situation easier like going from paxil to prozac to ween off or something. The problem is exactly what is happening to you. You don't no if its lexapro withdrawal or effexor start up side effects. Its probably both and perhaps a healthy person can handle them, but they are very frightening to someone who has anxiety or depression already.I have a feeling some of this might pass in a couple days though.
