My pdoc would say Xanax is more addictive. I have heard him say in an offhand way that he has stopped prescribing Xanax because he believes it is too addictive. Generic Ativan (lorazepam) is the main benzo he prescribes. Lorazepam really did nothing for my anxiety. The only thing I could notice was some increased tiredness, when fatigue was already a main problem of mine. I have not tried Xanax or any other benzo aside from the lorazepam. A beta blocker (nebivolol/Bystolic) and perphenazine (an old-time antipsychotic) are what are helping my anxiety currently.
