That is disappointing. Nortriptyline is milder than the other TCAs with respect to urinary hesitancy (delayed micturition). This side effect can get better with time, though. If necessary, you can take urecholine to treat it. Maybe it would not be so much of a problem were you to start taking Flomax (tamsulosin).

Sounds like a plan. That's probably what I would do. You can add Wellbutrin if your response to Effexor is inadequate.

I wish things were that simple. I guess if you are looking at combining SRI with NRI, Effexor and Cymbalta are logical alternatives.

Personally, I did better on Effexor + nortriptyline than on Effexor alone. Unfortunately, my doctor at the time did not opt to go higher than 75mg of nortriptyline. Had I gone up to 150mg, which is where I am now, I think I would have had a better chance at achieving remission.

I wish you luck. It is encouraging to hear that you did respond to Effexor in the past.
