Buspar has greater affinity for presynaptic serotoin receptors. This means that it will diminish the overall release of serotonin. It also has a metabolite which is a d2 antagonist and alpha-2 antagonist.

The alpha-2 part might cause irritability like remeron. The d2 antagonist part might work against a prosocial effect - who knows.
