> While we're on so many subjects regarding generics, does anyone have an opinion regarding generic alprazolam vs. Xanax. My generic is manufactured by Greenstone Ltd, a U.S. subsidiary of Pfizer. I take 4.5mg/day, and I'd hate to be wasting my time if the generic is significantly less effective.

I really don't see the need to waste money on non-generic benzodiazepines. Except for the patent extender Xanax-XR, no new one has ever gone to market in the US since 1981.
Basically -all- benzodiazepines in pharmacies are generic. You'd have to pay a considerable copay to bother to order the "real" one.
And then I don't get the arguments about generics, when people complain about drug company profits, but they want the original anyhow, even when they don't have any particular problem with slight variations.
There -are- medications that matter with variations but they are known and are in the FDA orange book.
