I forgot, also propranolol, which despite what some people might experience, not all people experience depression with it. But it doesn't stop the actual source of anxiety, only the feelings -- it is a beta blocker and will lower your blood pressure and help peripheral muscles such as shaky hands and the like.
It is frequently used for "stage fright" at a low dose and can be used for panic.
But the dose for extreme anxiety if it worked would be rather high and a concern for safety -- you would have to monitor your blood pressure and pulse and make sure its not below some norm for yourself. Also it can cause headaches (probably due to blood vessel and pressure issues)
Clonidine and guanfacine (Tenex) are sometimes used, although mostly for hyperactivity in child ADHD cases. They are twice daily, and cannot be mixed with propranolol (blood pressure issues). The effect would be much weaker.
