too high a dose of amantadine releases too much dopamine and then it overregisters presynaptically and it all becomes useless.

???

in drugs, the increasing "dopamine release" property seems quite different from the "dopamine reuptake/transporter blocking" property. or at least it seems with stimulants. when ritalin (methylphenidate) and dexedrine (D-amphetamine) are compared, dexedrine is often described as more effective while not as nerve racking. it's dopaminergic effects come not only the reuptake/transporter blocking, but also the increasing "release" property, which ritalin lacks.

i'm taking a 100mg capsule now. i'm figuring i may as well... (?)

seems all the formulary covers are (non-symmetrel brand) preparations that are 100mg "caps." (and some sort of ampoule or injectable or something. listed as 10mg/mL O/L, symmetrel brand included in this case.)
