In the past, I had gotten my P-doc to prescribe requip to me for depression. But she wrote it up to the insurance agency as being for restless legs, which made it easier to get a prescription.
Unfortunately requip didn't work for me. I found the cognitive side effects were really bad. Watch out for those. My ability to concentrate and speak became severely impaired after taking it. Since requip only stimulates D2/D3 receptors it leaves the D1 receptor in the prefrontal cortex understimulated. Understimulation of the D1 receptor is associated with negative schizophrenic symptoms (apathy, emotional blunting, poor concentration, not talking much etc.). It definitely made those symptoms worse for me. Though it can potentially decrease anhedonia and depression symptoms.
