New School Vrs. Old School

Things have changed a lot in the past 27 yrs. since i had my first episode of Depression/anxiety. My first Pdoc put me on Imipramine and Ativan.

Since then i have unfortunately continued to have problems with Depression and Anxiety and have seen many different Pdocs. It seems the new first choice Treatment for depression and anxiety disorders is SSRI's. Benzodiazepines are rarely used by the majority of Pdocs where i live (Near Seattle, Washington) and if you are on a benzo, most believe in having you taper off of it, insisting that the ssri will treat both the depression (unipolar depression) and the anxiety.

Have you all noticed the same trend where you live?

Dan
