Parnate- evening/early night exhaustion

Posted by nickguy on February 5, 2008, at 16:11:43

I've been on Parnate for about 6 months. It's worked well, probably more so than I realize. There has been a lot of positive change. I also take Klonopin, but not nearly as much as I used to after starting Parnate.
Anyway, I can't remember whether this was better at 30 mg (which I started at) 40, or 60mg. But I'm on 90 now and I've actually been on it for a little while (2-3 months) . I guess it didn't bother me the last semester of my school b/c I felt better and had later classes which I HAD to kind of stay awake for. But now, I'm done school sometimes at 2:00 or 3:00 and I come home and can do a little work for a while but after that I"m EXHAUSTED.
It's the worst in the early night time (8:00-9:30) and I cant get my homework done. If I went to bed at 12:00 every night, I would get a full nights sleep because I dont have to wake up until 8-8:30. But I don't know what to do about it.
I've tried lifting weights, and exercising and that doesn't help much. I take 50 mg in the morning and another 40 in the afternoon b/w 1-2:30 depending on when I wake up. I don't know if lowering the dose would help, or raising it (which my doctor has mentioned). I'm just wondering if anybody has any similar experience to the evening and early night fatigue. I feel pretty good in the morning and afternoons. I'm wondering if I can change the way I dose somehow, or just some suggestions to mention to my doctor, or augmentation or anything. But I can't go on like this b/c my work is just not getting done and I just feel like lying around when I get home from school. Most of the time, I don't nap in the evening (3-6 oclock) but after dinner (8-9:30) I could easily fall asleep and not get up until the morning and then I'm screwed for school.
I'd really appreciate any input.
Thanks.

-Nick

(btw, the same thing happens when I don't take any klonopin at all, so I don't think it's related to using klonopin as needed)
