phillipa.
my understanding is that it is a supplement.. Not really a med but they are marketing it as a med..
It is like folic acid but they say that folic acid has to go through a three step process beofere it can cross the blood brain barrier where as Dephlin can be absorbed as it is. So,, maybe it is just folic acid that they have tweaked??L-methylfolate, (deplin) crosses the blood brain barrier and aids in the synthesis of new neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) associated with mood.
i got this from the deplin website
http://www.deplin.com/.... I think the website will answer your questions. It is supposed to work in one to two weeks but can take up to four.. now that doesn't make sense to me.. If it can cross immediately than why does it take up to 4 weeks to work.??I honestly haven't noticed any difference with it.. I will ask my doc if I can stop since my insurance won't pay for it.let me know how it works for you. it has been great for some people.. on alternative they have good luck phillipa and thanks again
