EMSAM Patent 34,579 expires 8/18/2007

So if the major EMSAM Patent (#34,577 see patent here: http://www.google.com/patents?id=JdEYAAAAEBAJ&dq=34579 ) expires in less than 10 days, does that alone open up the door for a company who wanted to manufacture a generic to apply to do so? Or just what does it mean, if anything at all (afraid I'm not so up to date on my pharma patent law)
