ANYONE heard of Effexor causing hypoadrenalism???

Posted by rocklobsterwoman on July 12, 2007, at 6:12:09

Long story short, after being on Effexor XR-300 mg for 2 years my adrenals fried. Testing confirmed this. This was about 8 months ago. I slept 14 hr's per day and spent the remainder of the day lying on the sofa. After 6 weeks of this routine I "graduated" to sleeping 12 hr's per day and "sitting up" on the sofa. I am much better, after Cortef treatment. However, I am wondering if anyone knows of a connection between Effexor and adrenal exhaustion. I am aware that Effexor is a SNRI, hence the action on norepinephrine. So I suspect I may not be the only person to this deliterious effect.
