Matt, I've said this before, but let me repeat it:
If Prozac works for you, then Prozac is the best medication for what ails you.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I'm curious, Matt -- did your doctor diagnose you with bipolar? Or are you diagnosing yourself with bipolar? What is your official diagnosis, from the doctor? And what medications are you on?
As for SSRIs and bipolar, yes, that's often not a very good treatment plan without a mood stabilizer added. But that doesn't mean that SSRIs are not good medications. If they work for you, they're among the best in that they have limited side effects, and are safer than many older drugs. You've posted before that Prozac works for you. In that case, Prozac is a good choice of medication for you.
