I came for a checkup after it had initially been prescribed (.25 mg t.i.d.). All he said to me, enthusiastically, was, "It's great that it helps. Hopefully, you can get to the point where you don't need it anymore!" I said, "Yeah, that's what I was thinking too."
I've never had any doctor say the words dependence or addiction to me, and I've seen quite a few. If they fear benzos, all they say is that they don't think it's a good idea for daily or long-term use. Nobody has ever been fanatical about hating them.
