I didn't see your post the first time around since it was all by itself...but here's the answer to your question.
I actually went from 6 mg in November to 9 in January (1/22) to 12 on 2/19.
The reason I increased it (my pdoc doesn't even know) is that after a month on 9mg I felt OK but not great and was thinking of adding other things to the Emsam, but before doing that I figured I would increase the dosage rather than adding something new to the mix. This is what the pdocs would do since they rarely recommend adding anything to MAO's.
I'm starting to think like my pdoc. Rather conservative but better safe than sorry. The med I wanted to add was DLPA(DL- Phenylalanine), an amino acid that others have said is beneficial for depression.
I don't know anymore, there's too many choices in medications and to me that's a negative, not a positive, since it just lengthens the trial periods and with everything that others write here about the SSRI's, all of those years in med trials were time lost when perhaps, Nardil would have been the right medication to retry.
I have a cold too...the only thing I used today was Zicam, I didn't even check about its reaction with Emsam. I just have a bit of a scratchy throat right now and the Zicam is supposed to prevent the cold from becoming full blown.
If I were you, I would do the fluids, chicken soup, Vit C route, lots of OJ, rather than adding a med to the Emsam, too risky!!!
We sure love our medications though. What would we do without them??? Except every time I try to stop them, I relapse...I sure would love a life without medications! That would be refreshing and natural.
