That's sort of a generalization -- untreated genetic depression can compound itself over the years but since most depressive and anxiety disorders are biochemical in origin, they shift and change over time -- they may get worse or better. Depression also is not a single illness -- there is dysthymia, MDD, Bipolar I and II, psychotic depression, etc.

That's possible but we can live productive lives just like others born with other illnesses that we have been able to create medications to alleviate symptoms. Is the glass half empty or half full?
