I don't believe in the term 'treatment resistant depression'. It is just a polite way for the doctor to admit he/she has misdiagnosed the cause of the depression and chosen the wrong drugs, and in doing so points the finger of fault at the patient's supposed resistance rather than at their own flawed guidance. They do the best they can I'm sure, but the brain is a mystery. I think too often they assume depression is limited to just serotonin or norepinephrine levels.
