FYI...Here's the incidence of weight gain/loss from EMSAM packaging insert.
EMSAM PLACEBO
N=757 N=614Gained >=5% 2.1% 2.4%
Lost >=5% 5.0% 2.8%
"In these trials, the mean change in body weight among Emsam treated patients was -1.2 lbs compared to +0.3 lbs in placebo treated patients."
So according to this information, more people lose weight on Emsam than they do on a placebo.
My own situation is I haven't weighed myself which is typical for me most of the time, but since the last several days have been spent in a feeding frenzy with holiday overload, I wouldn 't be surprised if I gained a few pounds. I'll weigh myself in a few weeks before making a decision on Emsam weight gain/loss as I have only been on it about 2 weeks.
Are you gaining? How long have you been on, what is your dosage? If I gain, it is because I have not been exercising for a few months, nor have I been watching what I eat. When I'm depressed these things do not matter as much, I'm not as self absorbed or interested in my appearance, just typical of my depressive symptoms. When I wake up one day and see how fat and ugly I have become, it shocks me. We all know it takes alot of time and effort to look good. It doesn't just happen naturally for most of us. It's a well orchestrated, well thought out plan and you can't do it very well when you're depressed, although when I was younger it was a hell of alot easier...
