Yes its related to the effexor use. I bet when you stop the effexor you'll get normal sleeping patterns back.

I doubt its related to anything else (although you never know). But I am sure its the effexor.

Same thing happened with me. Also with Celexa. I slept like 12 hours a night and needed an afternoon nap.

It was surreal - I even went to my GP about my sleeping, but he didn't know it was the drug (I'm not sure how on earth he didn't make the connection, but hey).

I googled it and stumbled upon this site, and soon discovered it was the Celexa, so I weaned off it, and got normal sleeping patterns back pretty quickly.

It was such a relief not to have to feel the need to nap! It wasn't so much as I was tired when I was awake - more just a need to sleep longer than normal and to have a nap in the afternoons. It was really impacting on my life actually.

Talk to your doc about your sleepiness and the effexor. Don't be surprised if he doesn't know about it (ie sleepiness being a common s/e).

Kind regards

Meri
