Mix lexapro in water like I did with prozac?

Posted by blueberry on June 25, 2006, at 19:07:04

I would like to get back on lexapro. The problem is that it is so difficult for me to get started on it. I have to start with tiny doses and then slowly increase in tiny steps. That's hard to do by cutting the 20mg pills. I would like smaller pills or oral solution, but can't afford it right away. I have 20mg pills on hand.

So I am wondering, could I crush a tab and mix it in a bottle of water and then drink just a measured portion of it? I used to do that with prozac. It would stay good in the fridge for over a week.

The drug description says it is "sparingly soluble in water and ethanol", whatever that means. Anyone know what that means?

The prozac did not dissolve, but was suspended evenly in water as long as I shook it well before drinking. I am wondering if I could do that with lexapro. I am also wondering if it would stay good for a few days in the fridge or whether it would quickly break down.
