Cymbalta Really a Smoother Ride than Effexor?

Posted by JackD on April 20, 2006, at 13:55:27

I've been on Effexor for over 2 years now, with great success, however the short half-life of the drug poses some serious problems for my latest 9-5 job. I take the first dose of 150mg at 8am, and my mental energy starts to peter out half-way through the day. I hate all this up and down stuff.

I've heard Cymbalta on the other-hand, has the same mechanism of action (in theory), and isn't so rough in terms of the ups and downs during the day. Can anyone provide any advice/feedback on this? What's Effexor's half-life (the info I read was kind of fuzzy regarding this...)?

Thanks guys!
