Hi Phillipa, i beleive campral, GVG, gabatentin, topriramate and valproic acid are similiar in that they increase or enhance GABA transmission in the central nervous system, possibly leading to
some releif in ocd and ocd type behaviors.

my therapist felt that my drinking had an ocd-like quality to it, thus he felt campral could be beneficial for both, although more so for alcoholism, that is all the FDA approves it for at this time, i also hear it is used off-label for
mood stabilization, although i can't confirm that. i hope you are having a great nite, your friend...john
