Concerning drugs: listen what the p-docs tell you and listen to people in the forum who you think you can trust. Be aware that drugs always have sideeffects, some more, some less. Nardil seems to be a runner again. But its a fact that there are sideeffects and it can be dangerous, although it is exaggerated if you pay attention.
I think it is good to obtain as much knowledge of drugs and experiences as you can before taking a substance. The diagnosis is very important. There are often genetic reasons but nowadays underestimated bad things occured in your life eg. childhood.
And not but not least, there are also very good alternatives like speaking therapy. For such a therapy (better with a trained psychiatrist) is that you understand each other and you can talk openly otherwise it does not work. You are *not* a wake and guilty person if you go to a psychotherapy or a p-doc.
Personally,for me a speaking therapy helped me. Above all to be first aware (after many years..(!) that I had a little bit difficult childhood and youth.
I think that if somebody spends only some little time for others it would be so much better on the world and one could find the little harmony.
