The usual reason is that although zolpidem is frequently an effective med for initiating sleep, is often doesn't keep people asleep through the night. Ambien CR may be better in this respect, although I imagine that it's probably overpriced! I don't know that though, just guessing. Now Effexor is definitely overpriced!

Excellent. It probably won't benefit you for a while yet. When started at a high dose, Effexor is particularly effective in making people feel like they're gonna throw up. Low starting doses are better. Are you really having no side effects at all?

It's not marketed in the UK or the US. It's a French drug, people buy it from internet pharmacies. I didn't buy it though, a friend kindly sent me some through the post :-)
