Anxiety is a h*llish disorder to deal with. Very life impacting. I had (note HAD) horrible anxiety problems. Meds startups were a nightmare for me - due to a 50/50 combo of startup anxiety from the med action itself and my our reaction to starting a med. Previously I struggled with GAD, panic, ruminations, and agoraphobia. I was on Klonopin as monotherapy for 3 years. That plan worked well but had it's drawbacks for me. Eight months ago I went on Lexapro. It's been wonderful. I did struggle with startup problems of moderate to extreme anxiety. Klonopin helped with that ALOT. I now am to the point, benzo use is very rare.
Recovery is possible. I look at my plan as a treatment and not a cure. I don't think I will ever be cured, BUT I have a great treatment that works for me right now and I am leading a better life than I probably ever have. I hope you can find that for you.
