> hey! using antipsychotics (preferably at LOW doses) to help with some forms of depression has been done for a long, long time--Triavi, the perphenazine+Elavil combo, for instance, has been used since the '60s for this purpose. With the newer atypicals, research shows that combining them with antidepressants actually leads to an **increase** in the concentrations of key neurotransmitters that are often at lower levels during a depressive phase. Keep in mind, though, that any antipsychotic can induce depression if the dose is high enough. I took low dose abilify, and I think the best results are with abilify+antidepressant(s), with the abilify below 10mgs, unless you're having issues with psychosis, in which case it may be best to go up to 10-15mgs. Good luck!

Thanks. That's what I'll be doing. I'm on Celexa but have residual anxiety, pretty severe, and a less than complete response to the Celexa. I'm prescribed 2.5 mg Abilify to start and I may start even lower since I'm a scaredy cat about new meds and it has such a long half life that if I get some awful akathisia it'll be with me for a long time.
