My girlfriend and I have battled depression since we were teenagers. I think we both have bipolar because we go through stages where we run on 2 hours of sleep and are extremely overconfident and very determined to engage in high risk activites during those phases like drinking and having a desire to try drugs. We have tried XTC (lost interest because it did not do anything for us the first time. I have not have any desire to try any other drugs, but sometimes I think about it when I am in that type of mood.

We have been able to keep each other in check, we don't see the doctor during these periods because it's nice to be "high on life" and it seems to increase work productivity for us. Then the crash comes.

I am on effexor now, after a year and a half on wellbutrin. I think wellbutrin just lost its effectiveness for me.

I have been searching for information about cocaine because my girl started using it about a month and a half ago. She doesn't do very much, and reports she uses about one line every second day or so. But she says that she has not needed her medication in the last month due to this.

I have read many websites about the concerns of cocaine (as we have been taught since kinds). I just wonder because coke seems to do the same thing as effexor. I have consulted some websites and they say that despite coke being very addictive, it's not necessarily a given that everyone who uses it will get addicted.

I just want to be able to know what the difference is. The websites have been helpful in terms of side effects and addictions, but can she use coke continuously instead of her effexor?

What will happen if she ends up using both at the same time?

I work with her every day, see her every night for coffee and I have known her for twenty years, so I would notice a change in behaviour - which I have not.

I don't want her to be addicted, but is taking cocaine daily the same as taking effexor daily?

She has not been getting high and she has not used more than about a line a day (I don't know what a line is, but I have been assured it's minimal).

I asked some people at the drug addiction centre and they told me to tell her to stop. If it's the same, I don't see the difference.
