This is the first time I have ever seen this website. I am looking for help and I am hoping someone will understand what I am going through. None of the doctors around where I live seem to know why I am having the symptoms I am having. I have seen a heart doctor recently and been told my heart is fine even though I "should avoid any medication for sinus problems because it races my heart, avoid getting bit my fire ants because they race my heart, avoid the heat because getting too hot races my heart, avoid any stimulant at all, but you don't have a heart problem!" Could anxiety make me super-sensitive to all of the above and I not actually have a valid heart-related problem? I am on Xanex three times a day and Toprol XL twice a day. My doctor says she doesn't think I have a blood pressure problem even though high blood pressure runs in my family. My father died suddenly three years ago of a heart attack and I have been scared since then that I would too die of a heart attack. All of my big problems started about a year ago when I started waking up out of my sleep with my heart going 180 beats a minute. I wore a heart monitor overnight and it recorded that rate several times with no apparent reason. I noticed around that time as well that I was dreaming of my father almost every night. The doctors said that even though the rate was high, it was a normal rythym. I don't know if I have heart problems or if anxiety could be bringing on all of my symptoms.
