In reply to Going back on an SSRI after Poop Out??, posted by CK1 on March 5, 2005, at 16:40:17
CK1,
There is some evidence that the supplementing with folate and B12 may help counteract the poop-out factor of SSRI's. Here's a link to a discussion on the alternative board:

> Hi all,
> I am a 21 yr old college student having problems with anxiety/depression. I started having anxiety 3 years ago and was put on Paxil, which worked great for a year and a half before I stopped it because it affected my libido at tiny bit (10mg). After being off for 3 months, anxiety came back and I went through 3 drugs before going back to Paxil, which worked again for another 8 months until it stopped working in January. Since then, I've tried Zoloft and Effexor to no avail. It's been two months since my last dose of Paxil and really want to try it again. Has anyone ever gone back to a drug that worked well for them after it pooped out? Or....what are some strategies you all of used to counteract poop out? Upping the dose just made me more tired. When I'm depressed, I spend hours reading these posts! ha I guess this is my way of dealing with it.
