In reply to Adderall and weight loss?, posted by banga on February 2, 2005, at 21:46:49
i think adderall did both for me. i lost a lot of weight on it, but it could have been for other reasons. for sure, though, when i switched to adderall XR, i had no appetite anymore. i used to eat between doses of regular adderall, but with the xr, i couldn't eat well. my metabolism should've grinded to a halt, but it still kept going faster than it probably should've. one thing about adderall is that its absorption is affected by fatty foods. if you eat a high fat breakfast right after a dose, the absoprtion takes longer. when i take my adderall xr and if i can wait 1/2 to one hour before eating, it works much better.
i don't know about whether adderall speeds up metabolism. i've heard this only here and there. i don't know if this is right, but my thought is that since it causes your heart to beat faster and work harder, more energy is expended to feed the process. also, adderall makes me calm and focused, too, but others get hyper from it, and the extra jumpiness and pacing burns calories.
i'm curious about these questions, too.
