Effexor XR--How do I stop and what happens

My heart races too--it feels like someone has my heart cupped in their hands giving it a little squeeze--add the weight gain, dreams, a little jittery, no restful sleep and then wake to sleep again later. I have an interview next Tuesday--when can I stop this and what type of feelings will I have? Do I need to see my Dr. I am on 37.5 mg a day.
