Today was my first appointment with Dr CattleProd since raising the Cymbalta to 90mgs. That has not been a success -- insomnia, memory problems, worsened amotivation and anhedonia, and [embarrassing problem alert] flatulence. Nothing good coming from it.
So, today he said to reduce it back to 60mgs, and then started to talk about augmentation strategies. He said his first choice would be Wellbutrin, but he was hesitant to try it with me because of the eating disorder. I told him I was actually hoping for Wellbutrin, and gave him my reasons why, after which we discussed it more and that's what he decided on. He first had me promise that I didn't purge in any way, which I don't, and then warned me about some side effects he would expect to get worse -- constipation, dry mouth, etc. Constipation was a problem on Cymbalta at times, but so was diarrhea -- both of which have cleared up now.
Anyway, I know that a number of people are interested in what Cymbalta is doing, so I thought I'd update the board.
(On another note, today I noticed lanugo on my face, so am going to try to do better with my eating. It's very difficult, and I don't really know what to do. Every other episode has been "resolved" with anti depressants that caused huge amounts of weight gain, so I've never actually 'recovered' from this without the weight gain from the meds. It's a daunting thought...)
