getting off effexor xr

Posted by giggles on October 25, 2004, at 11:51:49

This was the worst experience I had in my life! I was on 37.5 dose and had only been on it for 4 days. When I found this site I knew I had to make a serious decision about whether to continue or stop. I quit taking it and although I only took 4 doses I still had brain shivers and at times I didn't really know who I was or WHAT I was doing. I found that I was easily "led astray" meaning I had quit smoking a while back and I was craving cigarettes and actually smoked a few. That was bad. The next morning I had a hard time trying to figure out if I had really done it or not. This drug is only for people who are seriously depressed, not for people like myself who's symptoms of depression are caused because of "being alone". The doc who prescribed it to me was an outpatient doc and he never even knew me. Also he never explained anything about the drug being addictive or causing you to hallucinate either. Those 4 days were hellish. My eyeballs bulged out whenever I looked in the mirror, and my face was changing its shape momentarily. I couldn't sleep and had very wierd dreams. This was a once in a life time deal for me and I will never do it again.
