Depakote and memory

Posted by yellowhat on October 10, 2004, at 12:09:45

I took Depakote, Wellbutrin and, occassionally, Lithium, for a period of about seven years (ages 18-25). I believe one or all of the drugs may have caused some kind of brain damage-- my memory (short and long-term) is SHOT. I read an article ( http://www.mcmanweb.com/article-161.htm ) that claims that bipolar disorder can cause brain damage, so perhaps my own errant brain chemistry did this to me? Anyone else experience severe memory problems years AFTER having taken Depakote? I used to be so damned smart-- I can't remember ANYTHING anymore.
