Did you see the following web site?

http://www.smj.org.uk/1001/aka1001.htm

It has a nice description of the treatment options. All of the atypical anti-psychotics should have lower likelihood of this side effect than the typical drugs, so you may not be able to get much relief by just switching to a different medication.

> Hello, I would like to possibly add an anti-psychotic med possibly to my combo to serve as a "fire extinguisher" of sorts for my problems (I'm BP II /w GAD and OCD). The only thing is that I'm scared to go back and try one now after a previous negative experience with Seroquel...
> to make a long story short, I seem to get akathisia easily. I even got it from Buspar... granted I did double my dose in a day so that probably accounts for it, but it gives you a general idea of how sensitive I am if even Busapr can give me those symptoms. ok, back to issue at hand.

Within a week of starting it, I begin to feel like I was on the verge of a panic attack at any moment, I couldn't relax (same feeling as when I doubled the buspar)... I almost got admitted to the hospital and had to stop taking both...

> My question is this... was the combination of adderall and Seroquel making this worse? What makes meds give people akathisia? Are there any anti-psychotic meds I can take without feeling on the verge of absolute panic???? They're supposed to be great meds and I feel like I'm missing out on further stablization opportunities because of this. Please help!
