In my oppinion SSRI's would not be the best choice for the anxiety you are facing. SSRI's are very life disrupting. If your anxiety extends to
be periodic and episodic I would stick to the xanax and inderall, perhaps a little exercise.If you feel that these meds aren't doing it then add more. Benzo's are 100% safer when used appropriately.
In my mind, just explain to the doctor that your anxiety is episodic and you are not wanting to take something continually for something that is only temporary.
Lots of doctors are putting people on SSRi's who might only take a benzo 3 times a week.
Its your call, but If I knew then what I new now about anxiety, I would take the benzo approach.
You know you need an SSRI if the anxiety is constant, or more often than not.Therapy might also be a good option to help you find ways to reduce the anxiety associated with the presentation.
