I hear a lot of talk about drugs that people were presrcribed that improved their social aptness, or got them feeling better, or having more energy.
I also hear a lot about people having brain fog after trying certain drugs.
Does anyone perform markedly smarter after having been on a drug for a few years? The "for years" is very important, because that's what we need.
For me, I felt really smart when I first started stimulants, but I didn't take any performance tests. Now I feel smarter off them. There's a big difference between feeling smart and being smart. (a la "I drive better when I've had a few beers")
After a few years, observing my technical performance at work, I'm thinking that I'm actually smarter without the stuff. It seems the stimulants help me conform socially better, be less erratic and be able to leverage my work for my own personal advantage better. But without them I seemed to be more creative and the solutions I came up with seemed more "brilliant."
Another thing I've noticed about this board: people here seem pretty smart, despite their problems (or perhaps because of them, one wonders.)
What are your experiences?
